"Annie's Girl"
I bought this incredible pink glass before my Mom passed away, and my Mom was someone who always wore leopard prints and browns and black jackets but she was a blingy for sure!
I watched her fight a hard battle with vascular dementia for years, which left me with such a sadness to see her like that- but just days after her passing, I had a dream and I have no doubt it was an encounter with her! She was young again, so happy, and dressed in all pink gown, a color she never wore, and I felt like she was communicating through the color pink just for me! She told me "Remember, I'm just on the other side!" It was a dream I will never forget, and since then I've included pink in almost everything that I've made since.
So I had to name this piece "Annie's Girl", as I am proud to be her daughter, and those that knew her in her prime called her Annie, which reminds me of the dream- I hope you can see the fun I had in this piece, and how much I cut loose with it! It is "bougie" like me, and filled with well over 11,000 pieces of handcut stained glass and Italian smalti.
I love you Mom! This one's for you!
